DigiPLACE’s set of events continues with a DigiPLACE regional workshop organised in Tallinn, Estonia.

 

The event was organised on 1st September 2020 in Estonia’s capital city with a possibility of joining the session online. The workshop was jointly organised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs & Communications - Estonia and the Committee for European Construction Equipment, CECE. The event gathered over sixty participants from the construction field.

The two organisers officially opened the event – CECE Secretary General Riccardo Viaggi welcomed all participants in Tallinn and those connecting online. Jaan Saar, representing the Ministry, presented the agenda and started the moderation of the event.

The session continued with the project presentation from Ziga Turk, University of Ljubljana, who outlined DigiPLACE’s goals, timeline and expectations. He explained that DigiPLACE aims at creating a roadmap for a digital platform for construction in Europe and encouraged participants to get familiarised with the project by visit its website www.digiplaceproject.eu.

Subsequently, the Ministry of Economic Affairs & Communications – Estonia and Platform of Trust – Finland, presented their perspectives to digital platform for construction. Respectively, Jaan Saar and Toni Luhti explained that DigiPLACE relies heavily on involvement and consensus by as many countries and stakeholders as possible. EU's construction industry needs to reap the benefits from digitalisation.

DigiPLACE Reference Architecture Framework was presented by Alberto Pavan from Politecnico di Milano, project’s coordinator, and Nicolas Naville from CSTB who explained that DigiPLACE's framework is based on an EU-wide consensus involving a large Community of Stakeholders.

The discussion on the future of digital platform for construction continued with the presentation from Alain ZarliECTP, on the next steps towards a Strategic Roadmap for DigiPLACE. Alain underlined that DigiPLACE supports the vision of a digital transformation of the European construction industry.

Next, Luigi Perissich from Federcostruzioni explained the importance of the DigiPLACE Community of Stakeholders. Participants were encouraged to join and actively contribute to the building of the European Digital Platform for the construction ecosystem.

The Q&A session followed, where participants actively interacted with the speakers, creating an opportunity to gather project members and stakeholders of the sector to discuss the progress of the project and to raise awareness on it.

The event was concluded by Miimu Airaksinen representing the Association of Civil Engineers – Finland who thanked all participants for joining and encouraged attendees to join the project's Community of Stakeholders, which will contribute to create communities of practice in Member States focused on enhancing and accelerating the uptake of digitisation by the construction sector.
